The stakeholder engagement workshops for the project "Move to the Future" started. This project was organized within the scope of İzmir Sustainable Urban Transport Plan (SUMPİzmir) carried out by  the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality with the European Union. The current mobility situation of İzmir was analyzed within the scope of the workshop, highlighting the common mind to constitute the sustainable city of the future.

The stakeholder engagement workshops of the project "Move to the Future" started. It started with the first stakeholder engagement workshop.  This project was organized within the scope of İzmir Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (EU Support İzmir Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan-SUMP İzmir), carried out by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality with the European Union.

The Vice President of İzmir Metropolitian Municipality, Mustafa Özuslu ; the Head of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, Kadir Efe Oruç ; the representatives of public institutions, organizations,and non-governmental organizations, academicians, students and the representatives of the board participated in the workshop held at the İzQ Innovation Center.

The Vice President Mustafa Özuslu, who made the opening speech of the workshop,used these statements : “We have a mayor who works hard to make İzmir a more livable city and works for people to move freely in İzmir. With the SUMPİzmir support project , we are endeavoring to contribute to the sustainability of the city with a safer, cleaner, more accessible and cheaper movement. We will work to include İzmir in the common transportation vision. We need to properly evaluate the mobility requirements of people in cities for a better quality of life. For this, we need the active participation of citizens. This project, which will be done with public cooperation, should be people-orientated. In this workshop, we will see how the future of  İzmir should be with a transparent and collaborative approach. Participation and entrepreneurship are words that we need a lot.Many hands make light work. We will determine how to proceed with your valuable ideas.
The current mobility situation in İzmir was analyzed

After the inaugural speech, a presentation titled “Sustainable Mobility in İzmir” was made. The presentation included details on İzmir's investments and activities related to sustainable transportation. It exchanged information about the evolution of current activities, the creation of new transportation projects, the roadmap to be implemented. The current mobility situation in İzmir was analyzed.

Within the scope of the project, three stakeholder participation workshops and two citizen information meetings will be held. With this, it is targeted to include the stakeholders and the public in İzmir Common Transportation Vision process. The plan of İzmir Sustainable Urban Mobility will be clarified at the closing event in July 2024, in the wake of the meetings that will go on next year.
