The Municipalities in İzmir will struggle with the climate crisis

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has prepared plan of action to struggle the global climate crisis,  has also initiated İzmir district municipalities -  the SECAP Training and Support Program. Within the scope of the work, the Metropolitian Municipality targets being a pioneer in İzmir's renewable energy production and decreasing the city's carbon footprint.
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality sustains its efforts to struggle with the global climate crisis. The Metropolitan Municipality broke new ground and commenced the “İzmir District Municipalities Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) Training and Support Program”. The training program held at the İzmir City Council building in Konak, brought together experts in the same place . Within the scope of the 1-year program; It is targeted that 30 districts will sign the Agreement of Mayors against the Climate Crisis and prepare the SECAP.
The carbon footprint will be reduced
The social climate union will be strengthened , within the scope of the study carried out under the coordination of İZENERGY and aiming to be the first city to have a SECAP report with 30 district municipalities. Also, SECAP synergy will be formed between each district municipality and the metropolitan municipality. The consistency will be ensured between İzmir and its districts about basis reporting and climate action. It will be easier to access to the municipality's internal - external financing and fund support. İZENERGY targets being among the pioneer companies in İzmir's renewable energy production and to decreasing the carbon footprint of the city.
