İzmir Metropolitan Municipality brings together its 27-year sister city relationship with Bremen, through the project of teacher collaboration. Mayor Soyer, who spoke at the signing ceremony of the project, asserted, “With the project, the women and children of the city will get closer to each other. We will carry both peace and democracy into the future with this project.
The project of  teachers collaboration has been signed with Bremen, İzmir's sister city since 1996. The signing ceremony was held at the Sovereignty House, hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer. The project coordinator of the Bremen-İzmir Sister Cities Incentive Association, Andreas Heinrichs, Bornova BİLSEM School teacher, the manager of the project Sibel Konca, Turkish and German teachers with the committee of the project attended the ceremony. With the Bremen-İzmir Teacher Collaboration Project, communication and cooperation will be ensured between schools in the two provinces, Turkish and German teachers. Additionally, the structure will be created for the establishment of new partnerships between schools in İzmir and Bremen, for the generation of new project ideas among teachers.

Mayor Tunç Soyer, who spoke at the signing ceremony, said “We have long fraternal relations with Bremen. The deal we made is evidence that our fraternal relationships and long-standing companionship. Our relationships will go further. This is just the beginning. The collaboration we signed is very precious, and many things can be made from this collaboration. We are ready to do our’s part. With the Teacher Cooperation Project between Bremen - İzmir, the women and children of the city will get closer to each other.The new races, the new ducts will form. It is very valuable work. We will carry both peace and democracy into the future with the project.”
The donation of 3 thousand 300 euros to the earthquake zone
The member of the Bremen-İzmir Sister Cities Incentive Association, the coordinator of the project Andreas Heinrichs, said that “the Mayor of Bremen, Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte sends you his regards”. “We are so happy that our friendship has been crowned with such a nice project. We will walk a long way together for years.”
Heinrichs presented Mayor Soyer with an album of commemorative photographs taken between Bremen and İzmir with the theme of sister cities. In addition, at the signing ceremony, DieSparkasse Bremen Association donated the 3,300 euros they collected to the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality to be used in the earthquake zone. Mayor Tunç Soyer expressed his great happiness for their donations. The Mayor announced that the money will be used for the equipment of the 200 container cities established in the earthquake zone.
 There are 16 schools and 32 teachers in the project
The foundation of the Bremen-İzmir Teacher Collaboration Project, supported by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, was laid during the visitation of Bremen to İzmir for the 25th year sister city celebrations. The project includes 16 schools and 32 teachers from Bremen and İzmir.
