Following Fitch Ratings, which once again confirmed the Metropolitan Municipality’s “AAA” national credit rating, the highest investable level rating, in 2017, another international credit rating institution, namely Moody’s has not changed the highest national credit rating announced for Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
In Moody’s Credit Opinion Report – March 2018, the credit institution informed that it will not decrease “AAA” rating, the highest credit rating available on a national level, given to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and added that the negative outlook of the credit rating is changed to stable. Moody’s downgraded Turkish Treasury’s long term issuer credit rating to Ba2 level and then issued a statement on March 9, 2018 about local governments and announced that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality’s long term issuer credit rating shall be Ba2 in parallel to the Turkey’s credit rating.
In 2016, Moody’s announced Izmir Metropolitan Municipality’s “national credit rating” as “Aaa”. It is highlighted that the credit ratings of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality reflects the dynamic economy, strong budget performance and prudent finance management of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
