Izmir Wild Life Park, a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), provided homes in Izmir for the new members coming from Belgium within the framework of exchange program organized by the zoos. The visitors will have a chance to see the new species after the orientation process. Shelters identical to the ones they had in Belgium are built to assure easier adaptation and the number of species in Izmir Wild Life Park increased from 133 to 138 with these colorful animals.
The marmoset monkeys born in Belgium Antwerp Zoo are 8 and 7 years old.
The capybaras, which are known as the “world’s largest rodent” living in the Central and South America, are one of the new arrivals of Izmir Wild Life Park. Belgium Mechelen Planckendael Zoo sent 1 male 3 female capybaras to Izmir Wild Life Park. These 1-year old capybaras have an average lifespan of 10 years.
