Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, who announced a Rent a Home campaign launched for families in need of shelter after the earthquake disaster to the world through Public TV and provided 33 thousand 98 families with a home, said, “There was incredible solidarity that night. Millions of people believed only our words. There was no SMS or account number in the middle. Everyone trusted Izmir and us,”he said.
 
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer thanked those who contributed to the “One Rent One Home” campaign launched for families in need of shelter after the earthquake disaster. Reminding that hundreds of staff and volunteers were on duty for the special broadcast on Halk TV on the evening of February 22, Mayor Soyer said to the call center employees he visited, “These are my heroes. Everything will be much better. Luckily you exist. I am glad that a team like you is standing behind me. I'm proud to work with you. There was an incredible solidarity that night. Millions of people believed only our words. There was no SMS or account number in the middle. Everyone trusted Izmir and us,”he said.
You stood behind me like a mountain
Stating that they will work even harder to ensure that not a single penny of the collected 330 million liras of aid is wasted, Mayor Soyer said, “We should not put dust in Izmir. I trust you to the end. Everyone trusted only the words that came out of our mouths. You spent the night in the morning without sleeping. Thank you so much for standing behind me like a mountain. Health to your work,”he said.
It became a home for 33 thousand 98 families
The “One Rent One Home” campaign initiated by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with the Need Map in order to find a solution to the housing problem after the earthquake disasters that caused great destruction in 11 provinces has grown with solidarity. Bir Kira supported the One Home Campaign by participating important names from home and abroad. During the campaign, 33 thousand 98 families received 330 million liras of aid during the night. Together with the donations received the next day, this figure exceeded 350 million liras.
