Abdullah Berkin Özcan, athlete of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, won the bronze medal in the 66 kilos at the European Judo Cup.
The works, which have been conducted in line with the vision of izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer to make İzmir a sports city, proceed to bring results. Finally, Abdullah Berkin Özcan, from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, won the bronze medal in the European Judo Cup.
In the organization where 103 female and 194 male judokas from 25 countries participated in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, on May 18-21; the athlete from İzmir, Abdullah Berkin Özcan, went on the tatami in 66 kg. He defeated his Czech competitor Vojtech Kubala in the first round. He lost to his Azerbaijani rival Ruslan Pashayev in the second round and continued on his way with the struggle of repechage. Özcan defeated German Johann Voigt and Azeri Tofig Aliyev, respectively. Abdullah Berkin Özcan defeated Poland's Piotr Zender in the bronze medal struggle and came in third.
