İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Tunç Soyer hosted Giorgio Marrapodi, Italy's Ambassador to Turkey, in his office. He said, “The world is changing rapidly, but we must look at our planet with a different eye and we must slow down. The resolution is to be in harmony with nature. The more difficult times await us. The resolution is interdependence and harmony with nature.
Giorgio Marrapodi, Italian Ambassador to Turkey, came to İzmir for the "Journey to Italy: Sea and Mountain" exhibition opened at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center and the inaugural of Italy's İzmir Consulate Building. He visited İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer in his competent authority. The Consul of Italy in İzmir Valerio Giorgio, Advisor of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Onur Eryüce ve Ruhisu Can Al, İZFAŞ International Relations Coordinator Tuğçe Cumalıoğlu also took part in the visitation.
Soyer: “We should slow down”
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, who mentioned the Cittaslow process of İzmir, said that İzmir was the first Cittaslow Metropolis. Mayor Soyer remarked, “There are many fields that this philosophy affects. The world is changing rapidly, but we must look at our planet with a different eye and we must slow down. The resolution is to be in harmony with nature. The more difficult times await us. The resolution is interdependence and harmony with nature.
"We are waiting for your support"
During the meeting, Italy İzmir Consul Valerio Giorgio said that they held an İzmir Design workshop. Also; Mayor Soyer, said “Let's integrate these designs into our IF WeddingFashion İzmir fair. So, we convey the effects and the idea. Mayor Soyer who says that the Botanical EXPO will be held in 2026, remarked “The support of our comrades is so worthy. We are also a candidate for the European Youth Capital in 2026. We ask for your support for this. Mayor Tunç Soyer said that they will translate the book written by the consulate about İzmir-Italy relations into Turkish.

Italian Ambassador to Turkey, Giorgio Marrapodi said “I came to İzmir for the second time, it is a very nice city. İzmir is the beating heart of Turkey. We want to increase the activities of publicity, We must do more in İzmir. Despite its low budget, the Consulate of İzmir  is working very well.” Ambassador Marrapodi stated that they will support İzmir's candidacy for the European Youth Capital.
