70 thousand dollars’ worth of donation from Taiwanese Government |
Dimensions of solidarity following Izmir earthquake crossed borders.
The Government of Taiwan also participate to those who acted to support earthquake victims in Izmir.
Mr. Yaser T.H. Cheng, Taiwan’s capital Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission Representative who talked to Izmir Mayor Mr. Tunç Soyer at online summit stated that they will donate 70 thousand dollars unconditionally to municipality. Mr. Cheng extended condolences to Mayor Soyer for those who lost their lives during the earthquake and said that their ties with Izmir are very strong, despite long distance.
Izmir Mayor Mr. Tunç Soyer in return thanked the Taiwanese Government for their sensitivity. Mr. Soyer said “Despite distance between us, it is precious that you understand feelings of earthquake victims. It is precious that you share our pain. I thank you and your associates for your support in this matter”. Mr. Tunç Soyer stated that this disaster showed once more how much solidarity is important.
