3rd Izmir World Poetry Day Gathering in Kültürpark |
In line with Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer's goal of transforming Izmir into a city of culture, Izmir World Poetry Day Gathering will be organized for the third time this year. On March 21, poet Hüseyin Peker will be the guest of honor at the meeting to be held in front of the Nazım Hikmet Monument at the Izmir Art Center Garden in Kültürpark.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Archives, Museums and Libraries Branch Directorate continues its activities with the "3rd Izmir World Poetry Day Gathering". On Thursday, March 21, between 14.00 and 17.00 hours in front of the Nazım Hikmet Monument in the Garden of Izmir Art Center in Kültürpark, the "World Poetry Day Declaration" will be read by the guest of honor Hüseyin Peker. Poets Ali Özpalanlar, Oğuz Tümbaş and Asım Öztürk will be presented with the "Labor Award" as a token of appreciation.
City poets read a statement
Since 2022, in collaboration with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the International Union of Activist Artists, "World Poetry Day" has been celebrated with the reading of the declaration written by the city's poets. In addition, the "Labor Award" is presented to the city's poets at the event. In 2022, the awards were presented to Yaşar Aksoy, Okan Yüksel, Hüseyin Yurttaş and Mehmet Sadık Kırımlı; in 2023, Necati Yıldırım, Süreyya Berfe, Mehmet Yaşar Bilen and Mehmet Mümtaz Tuzcu.
