Wednesday, April 17, 2024 Marathonİzmir, which will be organized for the fifth time by IİzmirMetropolitan Municipality, will be run on Sunday, April 21. New records are expected to be broken in the organization, which is listed among the fastest marathons in the world in World Athletics.
 
The countdown has begun for Marathonİzmir, which will be organized for the fifth time by IİzmirMetropolitan Municipality.  5,600 athletes from 38 countries and from all over Türkiye will participate in the marathon on Sunday, April 21. Marathonİzmir, with AVEK Automotive as the main sponsor, is organized this year with the motto “Health and Quality Life” in line with the global goals set by the United Nations for a “Sustainable World”. New records are expected to be broken in the organization, which is listed among the fastest marathons in the world in World Athletics.
Ersun Yanal and Bengisu Avcı will also be on the track
This year, Ersun Yanal, one of the leading coaches of Turkish football, who founded the Ersun Yanal Foundation and started a pioneering movement to create equal opportunities for children and young people in Türkiye, and Bengisu Avcı, the first and only Turkish woman to swim across four channels in the Ocean Seven, will also take part in the course.  Sidrex Running Team and Bengisu Avcı will run for the “Life Saving Wristbands” campaign organized by the Association for Quality in Health (SAĞKAL) together with İzmir Chamber of Pharmacists.
The 42-kilometer race will start at 8 a.m.
The start of Marathonİzmir, Türkiye's fastest track, will take place at 08.00 am in front of the old IZFAS Headquarters building on Şair Eşref Boulevard. The 600 athletes who will take part in the 42-kilometer race will reach Karşıyaka via Alsancak and return before reaching Bostanlı Pier. The athletes will take the same course to İnciraltı via Mustafa Kemal Sahil Bulvarı this time and complete the race at the starting point by returning from İzmir Marina. 
5 thousand athletes will compete
A 10-kilometer run will also be organized within the scope of Marathonİzmir. The start of this race will be at 07.00 on the same day and from the same point. The athletes will complete the race on the opposite lane of the old İZFAŞ building in Fuar Kültürpark by turning at the Köprü Tram stop on Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard. 5,000 athletes will participate in the 10-kilometer run
