AASSM presents “2 Countries 1 Camera” Exhibition

The Exhibition of photographs taken by Turkish and Hungarian photographers opened at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center as a part of “2 Countries 1 Camera” project launched for strengthening the relationships between Turkey and Hungary.

Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu hosted the opening ceremony of the project exhibition, which is jointly organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Embassy of Hungary in Ankara and Honorary Consulate in Izmir, and Dr. Laszlo Köver, the speaker of the Hungarian National Congress, the Ambassador Gabor Kiss and a large number of guests attended to the opening ceremony.

In his speech, the Mayor Kocaoğlu noted that the aim of this exhibition is to strengthen the relationships between the two counties and to promote these two beautiful cities and added: “I believe that the “2 Countries 1 Camera” exhibition will improve the relationship between Turkey and Hungary, a relationship founded on historical ties, and this project once again reminded us our common history with Hungary, going back to the Migration of Tribes, as mentioned on some researches”.

Dr. Laszlo Köver, the speaker of the Hungarian National Congress, mentioned that he is honored to be visiting an exhibition that is hosted by Izmir in a manner becoming to the long history of relationships between Hungary and Turkey. Mr. Köver highlighted that the steps taken for improving the bilateral relationships is not only significant today but also for the future generations and added “Throughout the history, Izmir has been the castle of relationships between Turkey and Hungary”. 

The Ambassador Gabor Kiss thanked the Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu for his support during the perfect photo shootings done in Izmir for the project started in 2016 and completed in a number of cities all around Turkey.

Photograph lovers from two countries organized tours first in Izmir and then Tokaj, Hungary and most of them were amateurs. The project’s photo shoots in Izmir were done in Kemeraltı, Basmane ve Alsancak located in the city’s old town; Urla, Sığacık and Bademler Wild Life Village located around the Peninsula and the popular touristic destinations Selçuk, Ephesus and Şirince.
