Thursday, February 3, 2022 Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer met with Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, mayor of the sister city Bremen of Germany at an online meeting.

Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, who will visit Izmir in June, said "We can't wait to come to Izmir. During our face-to-face visit, we would like to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Izmir and Bremen and revive the relations."

Mayor Tunç Soyer, who strongly emphasized that they want to develop and strengthen bilateral relations between Bremen and Izmir which have been disrupted by the pandemic, said "We believe in the power of local administrations and municipalities. Because municipalities are able to touch and reach people more. The relationship between Izmir and Bremen is very valuable. We have a lot to learn and achieve together." 
 
The Mayor Advisor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Onur Eryüce, the Head of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations Department Gökçe Başkaya, the Head of Bremen International Relations and Development Cooperation Department Dr. Annete Lang, the Head of Protocol Department Birgitt Rambalski, International Relations Officer Randy Haubner, the Director of Bremen Invest Turkey Erol Tüfekçi and Bremen Office Manager of World City Izmir Association Ali Eliş attended the meeting.
