Izmir's sustainable tourism initiatives have earned significant recognition with Selçuk and Urla municipalities winning the Green Destinations Silver Award. In collaboration with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Selçuk and Urla earned these certifications after fulfilling over 100 sustainability criteria, including environmental protection and waste management. The awards were presented at the ITB Berlin tourism fair. This recognition places Izmir among the global leaders in sustainable tourism, setting a promising example for future growth.
In addition, Urla Vineyard Route won the “People’s Choice” award at the Green Destinations Story Awards, also at ITB Berlin. The project, which promotes sustainable tourism and local development, received a record 38,200 votes out of 140,000 in a public poll. These accomplishments highlight İzmir's leadership in sustainable tourism and set a strong example for future growth.
