Sema Mete, a national judoka competing for İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, achieved a significant success by winning a bronze medal at Berlin Junior European Cup.
Representing İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, national judoka Sema Mete won the bronze medal at Berlin Junior European Cup 2026, held in Germany on June 20-21. The tournament brought together 459 athletes from 38 countries. Competing in the women's +78 kg category, national athlete Mete defeated Franziska Galla from Germany in the quarter-finals to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-final, Sema Mete faced Peppa Ploehnert from Germany and competed for the bronze medal. She defeated Eljesa Bajra from Germany in the bronze medal match, finishing the tournament in third place and winning the bronze medal.
