İzmir Athletes Return from Astana with Medals

National taekwondo athletes Kaan Yelaldı and Zehra Gürbüz of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club achieved significant success at the Taekwondo Championship of Altaic Language Countries held in Astana, Kazakhstan, winning silver and bronze medals.

Taekwondo athletes Kaan Yelaldı and Zehra Gürbüz from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club delivered an impressive performance at the Junior and Senior Taekwondo Championship of Altaic Language Countries, held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The championship, the first event organized by the Altaic Language Taekwondo Union established under the umbrella of the World Taekwondo (WT), took place on 22–23 June. Athletes from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Japan and Russia competed in the event, while Türkiye was represented by a delegation of 53 athletes. Representing both İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club and the Turkish National Team, Kaan Yelaldı won the silver medal in the 54 kg category, while Zehra Gürbüz claimed the bronze medal in the 46 kg category, adding another international achievement to the club’s growing record of success.
