Highlighting İzmir’s potential in investment, production, and trade, Mayor Tugay invited Azerbaijani businesspeople to invest in the city. “İzmir offers significant opportunities with its strong infrastructure, ports, industrial zones, and tourism potential. We can further expand our commercial and economic relations through joint steps,” he stated.

Referring to the strong human and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and İzmir, Tugay said:
“We have always attached great importance to Azerbaijan. Many students from Azerbaijan come to İzmir, and likewise, there are frequent visits from İzmir to Baku. However, in order to further strengthen these ties, we must know each other better. We should especially develop joint initiatives in the cultural field.”
Pointing to İzmir’s potential in tourism, education, and production, Mayor Tugay added:
“We can take joint steps to strengthen our cultural and commercial relations. We want to promote Azerbaijan more effectively in İzmir and İzmir more effectively in Azerbaijan. Friendship and cooperation always bring strength.”
“İzmir Has Strong Production Potential”
Perviz Altay, President of İZAZDER, stated that İzmir holds a special place for Azerbaijanis:
“İzmir is our home. İzmir and Baku are sister cities. We want to further strengthen these bonds of brotherhood. İzmir has strong production potential, and it is of great importance that this potential meets Azerbaijani businesspeople.”
During the visit, it was emphasized that Azerbaijani investors are showing strong interest in investing in İzmir and that the city offers significant commercial opportunities for both countries. The meeting concluded with mutual wishes to further strengthen the strategic friendship between Türkiye and Azerbaijan through cultural, economic, and commercial cooperation at the local government level.
