The Wheelchair Basketball Team of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club is set to face strong opponents in EuroCup2.
The team will compete in the EuroCup2 qualification group matches to be held on March 13–14 in Padua, Italy. Made up entirely of Turkish players, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality will take on the host team Asd Padova Millennium Basket, the London Titans from the United Kingdom, and Orto-Medico Scyzory Kielce from Poland.

Qualification Path to EuroCup Finals
In the four-team group, the top-ranked team will advance to the EuroCup2 Finals in Italy, while the runner-up will earn a spot in the EuroCup3 Final Group to be hosted by Beşiktaş in Türkiye.

Four Challenging Matches
Head coach Ali Reyhani recalled that the team finished as runners-up in EuroCup3 in 2024, stating: “We will play four very challenging matches over two days in Italy. I trust my team and my players. Our goal is to finish in the top two and continue our journey.”

“We Aim to Reach the Final Groups”
The only female player in the 11-member EuroCup2 squad, Medine Alper, said they are ready for the tournament: “We want to represent our country and our club in the best possible way in Italy and qualify for the final groups.”

Club President Berkhan Alptekin emphasized that the team competes in both the domestic league and European competitions with an all-Turkish roster: “Our team has competed throughout the season with a strong fair-play spirit. I believe they will represent İzmir in Europe with the same spirit. I wish our team success in the matches in Italy.”

Matches to Be Broadcast Live
Organized by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation, the tournament schedule for İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is as follows: on March 13 at 12:00 against Asd Padova Millennium Basket, and at 18:45 the same day against Orto-Medico Scyzory Kielce.
On March 14 at 11:00, the team will face London Titans. Following the group stage, teams will compete in placement matches based on standings: the third-place match at 17:45 and the final at 20:00. All matches will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Asd Padova Millennium Basket.
