İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Dr. Zafer Levent Yıldır hosted Huang Zhigang, Director of the Legislative Affairs Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, and his delegation. During the meeting, which focused on bilateral relations, the Chinese delegation highlighted their visit to İzmir Metropolitan Municipality’s Zübeyde Hanım Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Centre, saying they had been deeply impressed. Zhigang said “It truly feels like a family. The elderly residents regard the staff as their own children”.

Huang Zhigang, Director of the Legislative Affairs Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, and his delegation visited Deputy Mayor Dr. Zafer Levent Yıldır at the Open Office. Senior officials of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality also attended the meeting. Deputy Mayor Dr. Zafer Levent Yıldır provided the delegation with an overview of the structure and functioning of İzmir Metropolitan Municipal Council.

Yıldır: “There is great sympathy for China in Türkiye”
Deputy Mayor Yıldır noted that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality had previously welcomed several delegations from China and said, “We are always pleased to host such visits. There is great sympathy for China here. We hope to further strengthen our relations in the coming period and expand our cooperation in trade, economy, and culture. We also look forward to welcoming more visitors from China to İzmir.”

Zhigang: “We can build a stronger future together”
Highlighting the importance of direct flights between the two countries, Huang Zhigang said, “We believe we can build a stronger future for trade, both between China and Türkiye and between Sichuan and İzmir. We are confident that our relations, particularly in trade and tourism, will continue to grow. We are ready to cooperate in exports, imports, travel, and all other areas of mutual interest.”

 “The happiness of the elderly residents deeply moved us”
Zhigang also noted that the delegation had visited Zübeyde Hanım Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Centre at Buca Social Life Campus (Buca Sosyal Yaşam Kampüsü), operated by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, and described it as an outstanding facility.  He said “There was a spotless and peaceful atmosphere. Seeing the genuine smiles and happiness on the faces of the elderly residents was deeply moving. It is truly a family environment. The residents regard the staff as their own children, and the respect and care shown by the staff are truly admirable. We are deeply impressed.
