23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day was celebrated throughout the day in İzmir with events organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality at Kültürpark. The program, enriched with workshops, stage performances, and various activities for children, concluded in the evening with a concert by the popular singer Gökçe.
In İzmir, 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day was marked with great enthusiasm and strong participation from the early hours of the morning until the evening. The events organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality at Kültürpark attracted significant interest from children and families throughout the day. Taking the stage in the final program of the celebrations, Gökçe, one of the prominent names in Turkish pop music, was met with great enthusiasm, especially from children and families. The artist opened the concert with her popular song “Tuttu Fırlattı Kalbimi,” with thousands of attendees singing along in unison. Performing for approximately one and a half hours, Gökçe delivered a high-energy concert featuring hit songs such as “Napardım Bilmem.” She stood out not only with her energy and stage performance but also with her strong interaction with the audience. The concert, which attracted music lovers of all ages, ended with the song “Parla.”
Mayor Tugay also played with children
The program began with a cortege attended by Dr. Cemil Tugay, Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, creating colorful scenes. The “Second-Hand Market” set up at the Kültürpark event area attracted children’s attention, while rhythm groups, theatre plays, puppet and juggling shows, and a children’s choir took the stage throughout the day. While children enjoyed the activities to the fullest, families also shared in their joy. Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay met with children, played games with them, and visited the Second-Hand Market, where he made purchases.
A day full of fun and experiences for children
The planetarium experience, carnival games, activity tracks, and various play areas set up across the venue offered children different experiences, while the family activity area allowed parents to spend enjoyable time with their children. The Mobile Library, sports experience areas, and activity points also attracted strong interest throughout the day. In the tent area, more than 25 workshops were organized with the contributions of the departments of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and civil society organizations. In workshops focusing on children’s rights, art, science, and nature, children actively participated in creative processes. The 7th İzmir Book Fair, continuing at Kültürpark, was also one of the stops for children and families attending the celebrations. The day-long events created unforgettable moments for both children and their families.
