Head of the European Union Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer in his office. During the meeting, views regarding Izmir were exchanged.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer hosted the Head of the European Union Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, who was in Izmir for various contacts. Brigitte Meyer-Landrut, Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut's wife, and Alexander Fricke, Head of the Civil Society, Fundamental Rights, Judiciary and Home Affairs Department of the European Union Delegation to Turkey, also attended the visit.
Soyer: “Fairs touch everyone in Izmir”
Mayor Tunç Soyer talked about the dynamism in Izmir's economy and said, “All difficulties make the city and business people resistant to crises. "They improve themselves no matter what the situation is," he said. Stating that İZFAŞ, the fair organization company of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, will organize nearly 40 fairs this year, Mayor Soyer said, “Fairs touch everyone in Izmir. "Hotels, taxis and tradesmen make money from fairs," he said.
Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, who said that they went to the technopark at Ege University as part of their Izmir contacts, emphasized the importance of cooperation between universities and said, "If a city has sister cities and partners, I think the universities in these cities can cooperate."
