INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM `MEDITERRANEAN IN MOTION` |
Izmir Mediterranean Academy, a directorate of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, is organizing an international symposium, entitled “Mediterranean in Motion” that will focus on the ways in which ideas, people, cities, ecology and design interact and transform each other in the Mediterranean -a borderland that links and separates diversities, and constitutes a place of [in]communication.
Scholars from England, Finland, Italy, Canada, United States of America, Tunisia, Greece and Turkey will make presentations in the International Symposium: Mediterranean in Motion, to be held on 16-18 November 2017. The Symposium will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, 16 November 2017.
Additionally, a concert will be given by Titi Robin-Mehdi Nassouli at 20 pm. on Thursday, 16 November 2017.
"Dynamic Memory", an exhibition of gravures and ceramics, and "War and Migration in the Mediterranean" an exhibition of photography will be open to visitors 3-30 November 2017.
Themes of sessions of the Symposium are people in motion, ideas in motion, art, architecture and design in motion, power and resistance in motion, environment in motion, capital and labour in motion.
An Exhibition of Documentary Photography: War and Migration in the Mediterranean
A collection of works of documentary photography that tells about story of human motion, the most controversial subject of the 21st century will be open to visitors in Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center between 3rd and 30th of November 2017. “PostSeyyah”, composed of a group of writers, editors and photographers, has produced oeuvres that will be exhibited within the scope of “International Symposium: The Mediterranean in Motion” which is organized by İzmir Mediterranean Academy.
Dynamic Memory
The exhibition, Dynamic Memory, prepared in the context of the program of the 'International Symposium: Mediterranean in Motion' by Izmir Mediterranean Academy, a directorate of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will be open at 18:00, on the 3rd of November 2017 in the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center.
Three artists, Çağatay Çevik, Naile Çevik and Zeliha Kayahan have gathered under the theme of 'Dynamic Mediterranean' and produced unique oeuvres, which came out from their own fictional memories. In their unique two or three dimensional works, the artists convey us an extension of a dialectic process through emotions, senses, thoughts, feelings, perceptions, memories and questions.
The exhibition will be open between 3rd and 30th of November 2017.
