Izmir Metropolitan Municipality General Directorate of IZSU has broken yet another new ground in the collaborative work started with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Sendai Municipality with the intention of establishing “risk management” for the sewerage system of the city.   
 
A rehabilitation plan will be established to prevent damage incurring on the water and sewerage system in Izmir during a possible earthquake.
 
The General Directorate of IZSU, hosting Sendai Municipality Construction General Manager Sadanori Murakami,  President of Business Planning Department Tomoki Nakajima, President of Sewerage Department Tetsuya Mızutani, Vice-President of Sewerage Department Akihiko Otsubo and  President of JICA Turkey Office Takehiro Yasui in Izmir, announced that decision making criteria will be identified and a rehabilitation plan will be established for risk based investments by applying sewerage risk assessment  system within the scope of collaborative works conducted with Japanese.
 
Specialists from Sendai Municipality, which has experienced many major earthquakes, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) pointed out that the project will last 3 years within the scope of the contract.
