Take Active Role For Peace in Syria |
D8 General Secretary Seyed Mohammed Mousevi and his accompanying committee came to Izmir to be in touch and visited Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu. In the visit Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu brought forward civil war in Syria and invited D8 countries to play a more active role for peace.
D8 General Secretary Mousavi stated that D8 Union which involves 8 countries; Bangladesh, Indoesia, Iran, Malesia, Egypt, Nigeria and Pakistan, was founded in 1997 with the attempts of the term president Necmettin Erbakan’s initiatives and pointed out that Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu gives importance to settle peace in Syria and expressed his confidence to them and thanked.
Mousavi, “When super powers take role, other countries have no importance. I hope, this problem will be solved. Also efforts of United Nations General Secretary’s will take effective role in solution. With all my good intention, I will see senior officials of member countries and make contributions in a way.” He said.
Mousavi said that he read Izmir from books in university time and added that he is very pleased to be in Izmir in which is located in a beautiful geography. General Secretary pointed out that D8 union has become active especially in economic affairs in last 6 years and added that they want to focus on tourism and learn Izmir’s potential . Mousavi underlined that the aim of D8 is to set up collaborations between member countries and added that member 8 countries are selected very carefully and these countries have potentials in agriculture, tourism and transportation in the world and have 1 billion populations. In these 8 countries, Turkey is leading and important; “We can name Turkey as “father”. We’d like to organize some of our activities in Izmir, Turkey.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu stated that they want to improve collaboration with D8 countries in all aspects and will ve pleased to host D8 activities in Izmir.
