Japanese Istanbul Consul General Norio Ehara visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu and thanked him for his support in Izmir Japanese Culture Week.
Consul General stated that Izmir citizens’ interest for the facilities which are held in Izmir Sanat is very pleasing and added “I am very impressed that many young people attended Japanese Speech Contest. I admire their interest and knowledge about Japanese Culture.”Ehara mentioned that she loves Turkish people very much and added that she can observe Turkish love for Japanese on all occasions. 
Though in Izmir only 3 Japanese companies are active, they give respectable contributions in the economy, many Japanese businessmen have long term investments in Izmir. Ehara said “We need your support to maintain the affairs and materialize the initiatives.”
 
Istanbul Head Consulate Norio Ehara stated that 140 thousand Japanese tourists came to Turkey since 2014 and added that the number decreased down to 90 thousand in 2015, due to risks in security 2016 numbers are considered to be concerned. Izmir Metropoltian Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu pointed out that there is no security problem in Izmir and around and emphasized “Historical beauties in Izmir have been excavating to present humanity and we support the excavations with all our effort.”
 
Head Consulate Norio Ehara stated that she is also very impressed with Izmir’s historical beauties and there is nowhere like Ephesus and Japanese tourists have much attention in historical tourism and Izmir has many advantageous.
 
Japanese Head Consulate of Istanbul Nori Ehara was attracted by Atatuk statue, made by Yılmaz Büyükerşen which is exhibited in the entrance of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and said “Two vases which were put in the bedside where Ataturk breathed his last in Dolmabahce Palace, were gifted from Japan. The fact that the vases were there till his last moments, it is important to show his interest in Japanese art, it is prouding.”
