Donation to Apikam from Fener Greek Patriarch |
Fener Greek Patriarch Bartolomeos visited Ahmet Piriştina City Archieve and Museum (APIKAM) within his Izmir programme and gifted 200 photographes of Izmir.
Fener Greek Patriarch Bartolomeos came to the city for Saint Vukolos Day and visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Piriştina City Archieve and Museum (APIKAM) with Orthodox ecclesiastics and scientists, gained information about the works which have been carried out on city culture and history.
Bartholomeon gifted an archieve of 200 photographes which are taken in the beginning of 1900 in Izmir which was in the archieves of the patriarch. APIKAM director Ayşe Üngör gave information about exchange house of memory located in Buca Kasaplar and suggested to share some materials and work with Asian Research Association which is located in Athens. Assistant Secretary General Özkan gave some books on Izmir history as present. Bartholomeos stated that he will give required support for exchange house of memory and added “This is our house. In Izmir our Rum Orthodox Community is in peace. We shall continue this friendship. We want people to be happy as religious functionaries.
