"EuroVelo" Application for Izmir. |
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality sends the preparatory file for 3 separate bicycle routes to Brussels to participate in the EuroVelo - the European cycle route network.
The bicycle team consisting of 4 people of which the captain is EuroVelo National Coordinator Feridun Ekmekçi who will cycle 2700 kilometers within the context of the NowWeBike Tour will transport the file of Izmir to Brussels.
4-person bicycle team that will take the road from Mugla within the framework of NowWeBike Tour organized within the context of NowWeMove activity which is the largest campaign promoting and encouraging the physical activity in Europe will reach Brussels on September 9th with the name "European Cross-Border Bike Tour". The team will use 8 different EuroVelo route and get over more than 2700 kilometers by passing through the borders of 13 countries. The journey will end in Brussels at the end of 47-day bike ride.

Cesme Port - Klazomenai Route
The total length of prior first phase route of Eurovelo that is one of the bicycle routes of Ephesus - Mimas bicycle routes is 77.5 kms. The route starts from Cesme Port and ends at the entrance of Klazomenai ancient city that is located in Urla Port.
Urla Port – Urkmez (Lebedos) Route
The total length of prior second phase route of Eurovelo that is one of the bicycle routes of Ephesus - Mimas bicycle routes is 61.5 kms. The route starts from Urla Port and ends at the Lebedos Ancient City in Urkmez and the highest point of the route is 143 meters and it continues on the earth road by extending from Urla center to Kuscular village and then to Azmak Bay.
Urkmez (Lebedos) – Selcuk (Ephesus) Route
The total length of prior third phase route of EuroVelo that is one of the bicycle routes of Ephesus - Mimas bicycle routes is 52.5 kms. The route starts from Lebedos Ancient City in Urkmez and ends at the entrance of Ephesus Ancient City in Selcuk.
EuroVelo is a network of 14 long bicycle routes of which over 70 thousand kilometers have been planned and 45 thousand kilometers have been completed. EuroVelo bicycle routes are directed by ECF European Cyclists' Federation located in Brussels, Belgium as a sustainable tourism model supported by the European Parliament Tourism and Transportation Committee and that supports the bicycle routes to gain an international status.
