Aiming at decreasing carbon release at the rate of 20%
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has become a party in “European Union Covenant of Mayors” will decrease carbon release in the city at the rate of 20% till the year 2020.
Izmir Metropolitan City Council approved the Covenant of Mayors which has been started to support the local authorities’ efforts in application of sustainable energy policies by European Commission. By means of the attempt, Izmir has taken place in the cities which commits to decrease carbondioxide release at the rate of 20% within the authorized areas.
Action plan will be made
The municipalities which signed the covenant, in line with the aim of European Union to decrease carbondioxide at the rate of 20% till 2020, commits to increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources more.
In pursuit of related procedures are fulfilled related to the attendance, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will prepare “Sustainable Energy Action Plan” which will also contain indicator target with all local partners.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu stated that this attempt of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor is the best investment for future generations.
