​Turkey – China Business Forum at the Fair

“Turkey – People’s Republic of China Business Forum” was the event of second day of International Izmir Business Days organized as a part of the 88th Izmir International Fair.
Senior officers of both countries attended to this forum about “One Belt One Road – Modern Silk Road Project”, image of China and Turkey and planning cooperation between the organizations and local municipalities.

Turkish Republic Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan and Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer hosted the event attended by Zhang Shenfeng, the Vice Chairman of CCPIT (China Council For the Promotion of International Trade); Deng Li, People’s Republic of China Ambassador in Ankara; Murat Kolbaşı, the Chairman of DEIK Turkey – China Business Council; Fan Ruiping, Chengdu Municipality Secretary of People’s Republic of China Communist Party and Cao Jinxi, the Vice Chairman of CCPIT Shanghai.    

Li Chenggang, the Deputy Minister of Trade of People’s Republic of China, highlighted the increased number of summits between China and Turkey and added: “During the bilateral official visits, we agreed on development of more balanced commercial and economic relationships with Turkey. We are currently cooperating in the field of infrastructure facilities. The value of infrastructure facilities owned by the Chinese companies has reached 15 billion dollars in Turkey. Cooperation in the field of investment has gained significant momentum. The Chinese companies invested 2 billion 780 million dollars in Turkey. 2018 was the year of Turkey in China. 400 thousand tourists visited Turkey.”

Zhang Shenfeng, the Vice Chairman of CCPIT (China Council For the Promotion of International Trade), reported that trading volume of the Chinese companies has recently exceeded 100 million dollars in Turkey and added: “China has a reasonable range in respect of all trading indexes although the world has been going through a complicated era. There is an on-going reform in China. Both companies have advantages completing each other. Bilateral business relationships have been increasing”.

Government agencies and organizations of both counties, primarily Ministries of Trade of the Turkey and People’s Republic of China signed cooperation agreement, treaty of amity, and goodwill, technology and business conventions between cities right after the forum. Furthermore, a signing ceremony was held for the cooperation and trade agreements between Turkey Representation Office of ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China), the first Chinese bank opened in Turkey, TIM (Turkish Exporters Assembly) and Siçuan Airlines.
