​The Champion of Beach Volleyball is Turkey

In the CEV Continental Cup organized and hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality together with the Turkish Volleyball Federation, the Turkish Men's Beach Volleyball National Team defeated Latvia in the final and became champion.  Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer presented the championship trophy to our national team.

Murat Giginoğlu-Volkan Göğtepe took on Aleksandrs Samoilovs-Janis Smedins in the first match of the final competition held at Inciraltı Sports Facilities. Our national team won the competition which ended with tie-break with a score of 2-1.

At the second match, Safa Urlu and Selçuk Şekerci defeated Arturs Rinkevics and Ardis Bedritis with a score of 2-0 and our national team managed to win the competition.
Latvia became the second at the tournament organized in İzmir. Slovakia became the third, Italy became the fourth and Lithuania became the fifth and all the teams were qualified for the finals that is going to be organized in Netherlands.  

The awards of the other teams were presented by Ertuğrul Tugay, Deputy Secretary General of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Balçova Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta, CEV Technical Delegate Christian Schemeth and Beach It Beach Sport Organizer Gürsel Yeşiltaş respectively.

Greece, Poland, Finland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia took the top five in women’s team. Both men and women will be sweating to get to the Tokyo Olympics in the finals that is going to be hosted by Netherlands on June 23-26.
