Denmark’s Ankara Ambassador Danny Annan paid a visit to Tunç Soyer, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor.

Ambassador Annan noted that they attach great importance to the province of İzmir and intend to establish investment partnerships during his visit accompanied by Denmark’s Honorary Consul in İzmir, Can Kubalı. Annan highlighted that there are 70 large-scaled and over 600 Danish companies in Turkey and added, “We also have many companies in İzmir. I am aware that İzmir is Turkey’s renewable energy capital. I came across electrical busses, bicycles, and windmills in the city. Denmark has a strong position in terms of renewable energy. We can enhance cooperation in this field. Danish companies are devoting close attention to İzmir and are willing to make investments. We wanted to send a trade delegation to İzmir. However, we had to postpone it to 2022 due to the epidemic.” Annan noted that Turkish and Danish governments are cooperating in the field of regional heating-cooling and a project for İzmir and Aydın is in the books. Annan further said that he was informed that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is focusing on smart cities and as a result, they are seeking collaboration with İzmir.  
 
Mayor Soyer’s proposal for business days
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, who expressed how honoured and pleased they were to welcome the ambassador, stated that renewable energy is among the priority issues on the agenda and said, “We may organize business days through İZFAŞ to strengthen mutual commercial relations between the two countries. We can develop cooperation opportunities in the fields of tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy. İzmir has been a city with a focus on agriculture throughout its history. We intend to enhance this potential and seek new markets. We are also working on agro-tourism. We will be organizing a culture summit in September. We are always ready for cooperation with Denmark.”
