​Goal is to be in the world’s top three

The ice skaters of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality won a prize from the Figure Skating Championship organized in Sofia. Efe Cetiz broke “the world record” with the points he won and the Izmir team took the eighth place out of sports club competing on the championship from 101 countries.

The figure skaters of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality competed on the SOFIA Trophy Cup 2019 organized in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, and Efe Cetiz, a skater of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality who represented the National Team in the 7-element point class of Basic Novice Boys, took 45.42 points and thus won the all-time highest point in Turkey and all around the world.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality’s ice skater Masal Oran took the second place with 35.80 points in the Chicks I Girls category and Derya Taygan, a skater of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality representing the National Team, took the third place with 38.01 points in the Cubs II Girls category. The Metropolitan skaters Elif Su Erol, Defne Günce Kılıç and Batı Güdül came in fourth rank and the ice skaters Nehir Alan, Duru Çimen, Elif Uğural and Selin Uğural came in other ranks in their respective categories. With this success of our ice skaters, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club came in eighth out of 101 countries competing in this Cup. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality’s Trainer Gamze Güner, who also trains the National Team, noted that the club’s goal is to be on the “world’s top three” with the successes they will have in the competitions to be organized throughout the year.
