Won Medals in Albania and Russia

The judoists of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality won two gold medals from the two great tournaments organized in Russia and Albania. Musa Şimşek beat all his opponents in the Junior European Judo Cup organized in Russia and Şayan Nesirpur won the gold medal in the Senior Balkan Championship organized in Albania. 

Musa Şimşek beat all his opponents in the Junior European Judo Cup organized in Russia and won the gold medal. 325 judoists from 20 countries competed in the championship and Musa Şimşek representing the Metropolitan Municipality had no matches in the first tour and then he became a quarter-finalist by beating his Moldavian opponent Dan Stanila. In this tour, Şimşek beat David Ivanian from Denmark and then Astemir Marev from Russia in the semifinals and became one of the finalists. In his last match in the path of winning the gold medal, Musa Şimşek beat Abdul-Kerim Tasuev from the host country Russia and waved our star-crescent flag on the winner’s bench.

In the Senior Balkan Judo Championship organized in Tiran, the capital city of Albania, Şayan Nesirpur won the gold medal and Çiçek Akyüz won the bronze medal. 120 judoists from 9 countries competed on the tatami in this championship and Şayan Nesirpur, +100 kg., representing Izmir Metropolitan Municipality beat all his opponents and won the gold medal. Our successful judoists Çiçek Akyüz, 48 kg., came in third and won the bronze medal. The Turkish National team won one gold, two silver and six bronze medals and complete the championship as the third team.
