We hosted Kwaasteniet, Ambassador of the Netherlands |
Tunç Soyer, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, hosted Marjanne De Kwaasteniet, Ambassador of Netherlands to Ankara, in his office. During the visit, emphasis was placed on strengthening relations.
Ambassador Marjanne De Kwaasteniet donated books to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Library. Stating that during her visit to Mustafa Özuslu in 2019, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Museum, she learned and was impressed by the fact that the books gifted to Mayor Tunç Soyer were donated to the library, Marjanne De Kwaasteniet said she wanted to contribute to the library during her visit to Izmir.
At the meeting, where the emphasis was placed on strengthening mutual relations, Mayor Soyer said that the Botanical EXPO will be held in Izmir in 2026 and expressed his excitement. Soyer also stated that Day of Netherlands may be held in Izmir.
Natural disasters, migration and pandemic were also discussed at the meeting. President Soyer particularly focused on the climate crisis and emphasized the importance of creating a resilient city. Marjanne De Kwaasteniet, Ambassador of Netherlands to Ankara was accompanied by Oğuz Özkardeş, Honorary Consul in Izmir and Eray Ergeç, Cultural Counsellor of Embassy.
