“We follow Turkish politics very closely”
Michel Halherbe, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Ankara, noted that they are in Izmir to celebrate the “King’s Feast”, a holiday for honoring the Monarchy of Belgium, with the Belgians living in Izmir and Muğla provinces and added that there are 3 thousand Belgians living in Turkey, particularly in the seaside towns. The Ambassador Halherbe reported that 220 thousand Turks live in Belgium and this is why they consider Turkish politics and Turkey very important. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's Deputy Mayor Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan mentioned that he is much honored to be hosting the Ambassador in their city and highlighted that the relations between these two countries have always been close, since the Ottoman Empire. Nezih Öztüre, the Honorary Consulate of Belgium, accompanied the visiting Ambassador.
FUEN’s President in Izmir
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's Deputy Mayor Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan received Mustafa Kaymakçı, the President of Kos and Dodecanese Culture and Solidarity Association who was in town for the “International Symposium on the Turkish Identity in Rhodes and Kos”, and Lorant Vincze, the President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN). Mustafa Kaymakçı, the President of the Association, thanked Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu and the municipal authorities for their contributions to the symposium and presented the “The Turkish Identity in Rhodes and Kos Encyclopedia” printed in Izmir.
Let’s improve the business relations with Hong Kong
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's Deputy Mayor Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan then received Sam Hui, the EU Economic and Business Relations Assistant Liaison in Hong Kong and the Turkish Liaison Perran Ersu. Mr. Aydoğan noted that the People’s Republic of China and Izmir have strong business and cultural relations and highlighted the key role of “One Belt One Road Project” in awakening the modern silk route concept.
