Foreign relations representatives of the Republic of Turkey, Izmir representatives of the Goethe Institute, business people, artists, politicians and members of non-governmental organizations attended the opening of the exhibition, which was organized in cooperation of the German Federal Republic Consulate General in Izmir and the Goethe Institute.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Nilay Kökkılınç, who attended the opening on behalf of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, pointed out that the agreement signed in 1961 affected vital interests of both sides.
In the opening speeches moderated by Goethe Institute Izmir Director El Sioufy, German Federal Republic Izmir Consul General Dr. Detlev Wolter drew attention to the importance given to friendship and cooperation between the two states since the past.
Meltem Küçükyılmaz, the project coordinator and curator of the Ruhr Museum, stated that they are happy that the exhibition has attracted great interest in Germany and Turkey and emphasized that they consider the photographs of the artist, who passed away in 2018, as a cultural heritage.
The exhibition can be viewed until 9 December.
