Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Germany's Frankfurt Municipality signed a "Declaration of Goodwill" to enhance cultural, social, commercial and economic cooperation between the two cities.
The Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mustafa Özuslu, hosted the Deputy  Chairman of Frankfurt, Germany, who came to the city, Dr. EskandariGrünberg.  During the visit, A “Declaration of Goodwill” was signed between Frankfurt Municipality and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in order to develop cultural, social and commercial-economic cooperation opportunities.

We will strengthen our relations.
By pointing out that the Declaration of Goodwill will be very favourable in intercity relations, Vice President Özuslu said that : “We can strengthen and develop the relationship between us as municipalities. We can strengthen the bond between us thanks to culture, art, music, sports. We are ready for this cooperation" .

Izmir is an excellent city.
By uttering that they are in Izmir for a very significant assignment, Frankfurt Mayor Dr. Grunberg, said that ;
“Izmir is a European city. Izmir is an excellent city. It is a city with good ideas. We know that the coming years will be better for Turkey. The 'Declaration of Goodwill' what we signed is very significant. This statement will enable us to develop our cooperation and enhance our relationship exponentially. I am honored to be here today and to see your friendship. We have approximately 50 thousand citizens of Turkish origin in Frankfurt. With these agreements what we made, the image of Turkey in Germany will be changed. The Economic agreements, cultural activities, education, environment and aid are extremely important for the development of relationships.”

The Assistant Secretary General of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Barış Karcı, The Speaker of Frankfurt Parliament Hilime Aslaner, the World City İzmir Association (DIDER) Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Ahmet Güler, the Advisor to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ruhi Su Can Al, DIDER Frankfurt Office’s Head Arif Arslaner, Frankfurt and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality bureaucrats also took part in the visit.
