The 6th International Women Directors Film Festival commences on Tuesday, March 7 (tomorrow) , with the support and hosting of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. With the support of the European Sivil Düşün Project and under the sponsorship of Megapol , the Women Directors Association, 56 films will have their world premieres and 70 films will have their Turkish premieres at the festival, which will last until March 12. The 70 films will be available online on the festival's website.
The 125 films from 32 countries will compete.

The female directors will compete for the Golden Film Spool . Gülten Taranç , who is the executive director of the festival, said that “This year, our theme is breaking the waves. As a country, we have a rough time extraordinarily. We need art and cinema, since each of us has been very affected by the earthquake disaster , and all of us have deeply shocked. We believe that the arts can ameliorate. We are the memories of this community, we will never forget this period, and we will not let it be forgotten. We invite all cinema lovers to watch films at our festival.”
