Our wheelchair basketball team took the third place in Europe |
Wheelchair Basketball Team of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality completed European League-3 finals in the third place. İzmir team secured its position by beating ASD Handicap Sport Varese 79-41 in its last match in Spain.
Our team repeated its success as in the last year by placing third in the competition. Finishing the first quarter of the game in Vigo, Spain 18-7 ahead, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality completed the first half 38-26. Our team finished the third quarter 59-30 ahead and went on to win the game.
Wheelchair Basketball team of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality team had lost its first match of the group 70-64 to 1907 Fenerbahçe and beat Iberconsa Amfiv by 79-78 in the second game. Beating London Titans with a massive 76-38 score in the third game, white-blues matched Gazişehir Gaziantep in the semi final. Losing 68-58 to the Turkish team, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality team played for the third place. Ahmet Efetürk, successful player of the İzmir team winning its last game, was selected to the All-Star team.
Expressing his pride for their success Coach Erdinç Kılıç said “we are competing in Europe for many years. We are happy to take the third place I congratulate my players and those who contributed, from the bottom of my heart.”
