İzmir Tourism Hygiene Board coordinated by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality started Orange Circle practice to ensure tourism activities in the city are continued healthily after the global pandemic. Hygiene standards set by Tourism Hygiene Board will be observed in accommodation facilities and restaurants and bars licensed by the municipality in İzmir and businesses with these standards will be awarded Orange Circle certificate.
Orange Circle certificate will be awarded to businesses fulfilling the criteria defined by İzmir Tourism Hygiene Board and successfully passed inspections within the scope of relevant legislation. Orange Circle is a prerequisite for businesses to apply for Selluka award. Practice aims to make İzmir a hygienic and safe tourism destination, to help businesses in İzmir in adopting normalization process and to contribute to tourism industry of İzmir by promoting businesses having Orange Circle Certificate in platforms at home and abroad.
Orange Circle hygiene criteria will be given in two categories; restaurants and bars and accommodation facilities. Businesses with minimum 75 over 100 points and minimum 150 over 200 points in restaurants and bars category and accommodation categories, respectively will earn Orange Circle. There are 52 criteria in restaurants and bars category including bread being served in packages, closed water bottle, air conditioners being regularly cleaned by authorized companies and such. In accommodation facilities category, there are 101 criteria including presence of protective equipment such as gloves, masks and disinfectants in the hotel as well as measuring body temperature of guests at the entrance of the hotel.
İzmir Tourism Hygiene Board is founded in coordination of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İzmir Foundation to establish hygiene and safety criteria that will apply to accommodation facilities and restaurants and bars to ensure tourism activities can continue during normalization process.
