Ministry approval for Izmir financing |
-Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer announced that the expected approval has come from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance regarding the purchase of vehicles for Narlıdere Metro, Konak tram line, and providing foreign financing opportunities for Çiğli Tram and Buca Metro. Mayor Soyer said, “All four requests were approved and reached our Municipality. "I thank you for each of them," he said.
-Reminding the garbage dumping areas, one of the biggest problems of İzmir, Mayor Soyer said, “The problem of the waste storage area in Harmanda needs to be solved. We expect the problem of dumping sites, the plans of which have been rejected, to be resolved with the cooperation of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and our governor.".
Within the scope of the Narlıdere Metro, Üçyol Buca HRS Line, Çiğli Tram and Konak Tram Line vehicle purchase projects, which are one of the important urban transportation projects of İzmir and the construction of which has been completed 96 percent, foreign financing approval has been received from the Treasury for more than a year. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer announced that the approval for the four requests expected since March came as of yesterday and said, “One of them was the payment to be made from IBRD for the last stage of the Narlıdere Metro. We've been waiting for this since March. At the same time, we had a request for approval regarding the purchase of tram vehicles. Again, we had requests for the Çiğli Tram and Buca Metro to be provided with foreign financing opportunities. All four requests were approved with the signature of our Minister of Treasury and Finance and reached our Municipality. I thank each and every one of them.”.
“There is a problem if it is not resolved”
Mayor Soyer also drew attention to the garbage dumping areas, one of the most important problems of İzmir and the plans of which were rejected, and said, “It is one of the biggest problems of İzmir. One of the problems that will create a huge problem if not solved is garbage dumping areas. We want to give up the landfill in Harmandalı. For this, the problem of dumping sites, the plans of which were rejected, should be resolved in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and our governor. I would like to remind the sensitivity of this issue and convey this request.”.
Narlıdere Metro is counting months to meet the people of Izmir
An agreement was reached between the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) within the scope of the last external financing loan of 30 Million Euros needed to bring the Narlıdere Metro Project, 96 percent of which have been completed, to the people of Izmir. For more than a year, the approval of the extension of time has been expected from the Treasury regarding the signing of the loan agreement, which is necessary for the implementation of the relevant agreement. At the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Assembly Meeting to be held today with the approval of the Treasury, it will be discussed to authorize the Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer to sign the external financing contract worth 30 million Euros. Then, the relevant loan agreement will be signed and the people of Izmir will meet with Narlıdere Metro in a short time.
