The Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer said “for the 4th Marathon İzmir to be held on May 7, “We are organizing Marathon İzmir this year with the theme of 'We are celebrating the 100 Years Marathon in Marathonİzmir'. Marathonİzmir is on its way to becoming one of the most notable brands of our beautiful İzmir. I believe that it will be a competition where records will be broken with the attendance of nearly 5 thousand people on May 7 at 07:00. The fourth of the İzmir Marathon, organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer to make İzmir a sports city, will be run on 7 May. The Marathon, which will be run in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, with the participation of 30 elite athletes from 20 countries and athletes from all over Turkey, targets to renew the Turkey's fastest racetrack record this year. Ethiopian Tsegaye Getachew who broke the first record with a time of 2 hours 9 minutes 35 seconds in 2021, will be in İzmir again this year for a new record. The start of Marathonİzmir, which has become the fastest racetrack in Turkey, will be given in front of the former İZFAŞ General Directorate building on Şair Eşref Boulevard.

Firstly, from Alsancak to Karşıyaka
In the 42-kilometer İzmir Marathon, the athletes will reach Karşıyaka from Alsancak and return before reaching the Bostanlı Pier. The Athletes, who will reach İnciraltı from Mustafa Kemal Coast Boulevard on the same racetrack, will return from Marina İzmir and complete the race at the starting point.
The 10-kilometer 19 May Road Run, which is the only race awarded in the youth category in Turkey, is planned to be held on May 21 this year within the scope of Marathonİzmir. The Marathonİzmir will be held within the 10k race. The start of this race will be held on the same day and from the same point at 09:15. In the 10-kilometer race, the athletes will return from the Köprü Tram station on Mustafa Kemal Coast Boulevard and complete the race on the opposite lane of the Fair Kültürpark İZFAŞ building. 5,000 athletes registered for the 42 km marathon and the 10km running. A social responsibility cooperation is also being made for the 4th Marathonİzmir with Step by Step. “Step by Step” will bring the enthusiasm of charity runs to İzmir this year.
