Israel’s Ankara Ambassador Diplomatic Agent Irit Lillian paid a visit to Tunç Soyer, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor in this office.
Israel's Deputy Consul General in İstanbul Ehud Eitam, Israel's Honorary Consul in İzmir and Aegean Exporters' Unions President Jak Eskinazi and İzmir Metropolitan Mayor's Advisor Onur Eryüce attended the visit. Stating that they attach importance to communication between public and cities, Mayor Tunç Soyer talked about the need for establishing peace in the region and said, “States may disagree, but this will not happen at the level of cities. That's why city diplomacy is important," he said, adding that they have three priorities: agriculture, tourism and smart city.
Lillian: “Collaborations are possible”
Irit Lillian, Israel’s Ankara Ambassador Diplomatic Agent, said, “There is much to be done in the field of smart cities. An online event can be held between the companies and mayors of the two parties in areas such as e-municipality, security, transportation. Tel Aviv is a member of Global Cities. In this project, we can create a space of cooperation. The issue of gastronomy is also open to bilateral cooperation.” Ehud Eitam, Israel's Deputy Consul General in İstanbul, said, “Izmir and Tel-Aviv are twin towns. Due to the pandemic, this relationship was not very active, but it is time to build bridges.
