Ecology Izmir, the only fair focusing on the certified organic products representing Turkey in the national and international platforms, opened its doors for the tenth event.

Mr. Özcan Purçu and Tacettin Bayır, both Izmir Deputies of CHP, and Ms. Zeynep Sibel Algan, Izmir Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Feridun Yılmazlar, Mayor of Beydağ, and Prof. Dr. Uygun Aksoy, the Chairman of Ecological Agriculture Organization Association (ETO) were present at the opening ceremony. 

Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer gave a speech at this ceremony: “We all learned that the global ecological crisis, a matter disregarded by all industries, is the underlying factor of all economic depressions suffered all around the world. We have to accept that a development vision, which is not based on a culture in harmony with nature, causes irreparable damages on the living creatures besides us, ecosystem, economically disadvantaged groups and parties embracing such vision.  We have to take action today right now for our planet and our future. The government, private sector and civil society, which must act under the guidance of science, must do much more than showing good faith when it comes to protecting the nature. Now, it is time to bite the bullet and come up with feasible projects for protecting the health of nature with people. It is not possible to protect human health in a planet that does not have a healthy nature. We are all parts of the same ecosystem”.

The Mayor Tunç Soyer highlighted that Izmir has managed to break many new grounds in the organics sector and continued: “A life in harmony with nature is one of the strategic goals ahead of Izmir and we will take several steps in all aspects. Ecology Izmir, as the only fair focusing on the certified organic products representing Turkey in the national and international platforms, brings together all stakeholders of the sector. I hope this fair will be one of the exemplary territories of life in harmony with nature and I would like to thank all establishments contributed to this fair. Always, be a part of nature!”

“This Fair started in Istanbul but it has now found its true home. As the organics community, we always consider Izmir as a capital city. We have this assumption because this movement started in Izmir and then expanded” said Dr. Uygun Aksoy, the Chairman of Ecological Agriculture Organization Association (ETO).

The Ecology Izmir Fair, organized in Fuar Izmir on May 15-18, offers a wide range of innovative products from organic clothing to food, cosmetics and cleaning products and includes a number of events organized and control and certification bodies.
