Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Advisor Dr. Güven Eken who speaks on the fourth day of the Second Century Economics Congress, made a presentation titled “Circular Culture Cities”. Eken clarified that “Traditionally the word "I" has turned out to be our holiest in the era we live in. The word “I” is not viable for living creations outside of us. When it's me, the we cluster comes with it. Me and everything outside of us is climate, biodiversity, ecosystem and these are the environment. Many creatures other than us do not discerned life that way. What we call the environment is the unity of nature, the universe and the earth, of which we are all a part. In fact, These two senses are the basis of every decision we make in life.”
It is fundamental to incorporate the ecosystem in basic sciences.
Güven Eken said that we live in an age where selfishness and individualism are incited. “When people don't get in touch with nature, the base of life goes. It merely turns out to get and accumulate. The question of what to give to life does not come to our minds. At the end of the day, we compose our own locations. These are locations that have nothing to do with the birds and brooks around them. The locations are the mirror of our thoughts. We lack of basic science knowledge to originate a resilient city in harmony with nature. We want toconstitute a civilization but we do not include the ecology and nature that we are a part of.
The wisdom of Anatolian actually indicates us that we can live much better. We need to receive more inspiration from nature, to build the cities of the future. We should put ecology in the middle of the basic sciences (mathematics, chemistry, physics, science, astronomy). It is need to alter the definition of basic sciences. Whatever projection we make, we need to originate and produce based on basic sciences.
The Nature has a balance of design.
Güven Eken explained that nature has a design balance. “This is such a design that it can create an endless diversity as well as a resemblance. When we untie this, we can live in full harmony. All creatures in nature do this. Our brain is fed by dividing and comminuting people and creates certain centers of power. In fact, we penalize ourselves by being separated from nature's sources of pleasure and enthusiasm.
We can construct the cities of the future with circular culture.
According to Eken, cities should not be viewed as places to escape on the first holiday. He asserted that “It is very significant to be able to read and write nature while constructing the cities. Our Earth is a breathing blue, green, brown planet when viewed from afar. The creations feed each other. Wherever people live in the city or village, they have footprints. The climate change we have caused is expanding and affecting the world. How can we build circular cities? This is feasible when we originate green corridors in the city and bring together the streams with soil, not concrete. The methods are very simple. If we nurture a city with a circular culture, this is possible. The harmony with each other, the harmony with variation, the harmony with nature ,the harmony with our past create a circular culture. The Cities of the future can be erected on this main chain. It is necessary to remember what we forgot and not to forget what we remembered.
This is a chance for us
Eken advised us to incorporate as much affection as possible into our lives. “When fear becomes a part of an activity , You close down the movement, the relationship, the healing. The Affection, wherever you go in the world, no matter what nationality you are, indicates where the resolution is. Without affection we can't change anything in the world. A leader who says he will conduct a city with love and comes once in 50 years is managing Izmir.
