All News SHARE

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to weave the city with iron nets. Mayor Tunç Soyer examined the stations of Narlıdere Metro, where work continues at full speed. Receiving information about the works at the Martyrs', Contemporary and Fine Arts stops, Soyer said, "No one should have any doubts, we will open the metro together on the promised date."

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the only local government that makes all metro investments in the city with its own means, has started the countdown for the Narlıdere Metro, which will connect Bornova Evka-3 and Narlıdere. There are only a few days left for the opening of Narlıdere Metro, where both the station and landscaping works are continuing. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer went down to the Şehitlik, Çağdaş and Güzel Sanatlar stations and inspected them. During the inspection, where Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Özgür Ozan Yılmaz and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Rail Systems Department Head Mehmet Ergenekon were present, Mayor Soyer received information about the latest situation.

Soyer: “We will open together on the promised date”
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “As they say, very feverish work, that's exactly what it is. We are counting the days, there are very few days left. In February, our Rail Systems Department will transfer the operation to Izmir Metro A.Ş. for testing. We went down to this station by escalator, which was an excitement in itself. It was something we dreamed of and it finally came true. In a very short time, we will start transporting the people of Izmir with Narlıdere Metro. Traffic will ease on this route above the city, and people will travel much more comfortably and cheaply. Removing the congestion on bus routes will also allow people to breathe in the city. Parks and landscapes are being completed around each station. We are making the finishing touches with great excitement. No one should have any doubts, it will catch up. I am grateful and proud of all my friends. "We will open the metro together on the promised date," he said.

“Metro overheads will be recreation areas."
Stating that the metro station entrances have been designed with a beauty befitting Izmir, Mayor Soyer said, “The city will gain recreation areas that will please everyone's eyes with their seating groups, furniture and greenery. "Therefore, on the one hand, we modernize public transportation, and on the other hand, we create breathing spaces for the citizens," he said.

It consists of 7 stations
The line, which will be a continuation of the existing line starting from Evka-3 and ending at Fahrettin Altay, will include Balçova, Çağdaş, Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, Güzel Sanatlar, Narlıdere, Şehitlik and Kaymakamlık stations, respectively. Tunnel works and rail laying works have been completed. A total of 14.5 kilometers of tunnels were opened. Electromechanical works continue on the line and at the stations. When the line is put into operation, the daily number of passengers is expected to be 170 thousand on average. Two separate car parks with a capacity of 219 vehicles are also being built at Balçova and Kaymakamlık stations.

Reached 285 million Euros
Izmir Light Rail System 4th Phase F. Altay-Narlıdere District Governorate Construction Work was delivered to the contractor company on June 4, 2018, with a contract value of 252 million Euros. This cost reached 285 million Euros with exploration increases. With the completion of the line, a total of 27 kilometers of uninterrupted rail transportation service will be provided between the Bornova district in the north of Izmir and the Narlıdere district in the south. Izmir residents will have safe, comfortable, environmentally friendly and economical rail transportation and will also save time.
