All News SHARE

Tunç Soyer called for cooperation on the goal of “World City İzmir” in ordinary January assembly meeting of İzmir Chamber of Commerce.

A new ecosystem for İzmir

Underlining that they are trying to create a new ecosystem in İzmir and expressing the importance of collaboration among all institutions and formations of the city, Mayor Soyer said, “This city has a too big potential to be shallowed with political separation. We must develop more projects. We meet monthly with executives of İzmir Chamber of Commerce, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry, organized industrial zones and trade association. Road to growth lies in adding to each other’s strengths. We need such unity to make İzmir a world city.”

“All we have to do is join hands”
Adding that they have taken major steps in tourism industry, Soyer said that İzmir International Fair will be organized as the blue continent meeting under Mediterranean theme this year. Reminding that the world’s most famous gastronomy fair Terra Madre will be held in İzmir in 2021 for the first time outside Italy, Mayor Soyer said, “World Culture Summit will be held in İzmir in 2021. We are working to make İzmir, European Youth Capital. We are also working to hold Botanic EXPO in 2026 and World EXPO in 2030 in this city. All we have to do is joining hands. Naturally, we are focusing on infrastructure and transportation projects for İzmir to be capable of handling such a load.”

İzmir Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Mahmut Özgener said, “We are developing joint projects for our city with Metropolitan Municipality in many platforms such as İzmir Foundation and TARKEM. Attracting new investment to the city and diversifying international organisations are our priority targets.”
