A Visit by NATO Commanders |
The Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group TWO (SNMGMG – 2) was in Izmir Port. The commanders of the naval ships visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
In this visit by the Captain Alessandro Falcone, the Commander of Group Two, Mr. Mustafa Özuslu, the Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, received the following military delegation; the Chief of Staff Yordan Yordanov, Lieutenant Gökhan Bektaş, who is the Commander of TCG Enez Vessel in the fleet of Turkish Naval Forces Command as well as Captain Massimiliano, the Commander of ITS Vesuvio Vessel in the fleet of Italian Naval Forces Command.
“A city located by the sea has tolerance, equality and welfare. We, as Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, wish to build an equal and fair life for our citizens by properly making use of these beauties and blessings” said the Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu.
The Captain Alessandro Falcone who is the Commander of Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group, highlighted that they have very much enjoyed their visit in Izmir and added; “Izmir is breathtaking and its residents are happy. We are mariners. We care about the sea. A sea can possibly function as a bridge between the cities. It allows bilateral business relationships and cultural relationships to improve. Our duty is to assure safety of our seas. We have commanders from all around the world. It is possible for people from diverse cultures to work together and succeed.”
