All News SHARE

The last phase of the construction of Buca Metro was completed by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

8 companies and consortiums, including participants from countries such as China, Azerbaijan, and the United States, competed in the international tender for Üçyol-Buca metro, which will be the largest investment in the history of the city.

The tender for the final stage construction of the 13.5-kilometre-long Buca Metro, which will serve between Üçyol Station-Dokuz Eylül University Tınaztepe Campus-Çamlıkule, which constitutes the 5th phase of the Izmir Light Rail System, was broadcasted live on the social media accounts of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The most economically advantageous offer will be determined as a result of the evaluation of the financial offers according to the tender procedure and the construction works will start immediately by signing a contract with the contractor company.

Tunç Soyer, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mustafa Özuslu, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, and Dr. Buğra Gökçe watched it live. Mayor Soyer, evaluating after the tender, stated that the tender was successful thanks to both the number of participants and the strong capital structure of the participating companies and added: "There are significant differences between the financial offers of the companies. We will quickly learn the reasons for these differences. We will conclude the tender as quickly as possible within the framework of international tender legislation. It will be a tender within the limits of the budget provided by the consortium we created. And we will not have to create a source. It is a successful tender, a very successful participation. Best wishes to the people of Buca, Izmir, and all of Turkey."

The companies participating in the tender and their financial offers are as follows; (excluding VAT)

The first loan contract for the Buca Metro, which will be built by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with its own resources, was signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in July. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality signed a €125 million authorisation agreement with the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for a total of €250 million within the scope of Üçyol-Buca Metro Line last May, and with the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) for €115 million at the end of July.
