The “International Cartoon Contest” which is held by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality for the first time, with the aim of strengthening the ties, sensitiveness and consciousness towards peace between friend and sister cities have been finalized.
In the first round, ten out of 1400 cartoons that have been submitted for the Cartoon Contest, have been selected by the jury consisting of Vladimir Kazanevsky, Valeriu Kurtu, Luc Descheemaeker, Eray Özbek, Ömer Çam, Mustafa Yıldız, Sadık Pala and Dr. Pınar Meriç. The jury selected Galym Boranbayev from Kazhakistan as the second runner up, Ali Mirae from Iran as the first runner up and Ivailo Tsetkov from Bulgaria as the winner.
Prize giving ceremony will be held in İzmir Sanat on the International World Peace Day, 1st of September.
Online application period which started on April 21, 2014 finished on August 1, 2014. There were more than 1400 applications both from İzmir sister cities but also from the USA, Japan, Africa and other countries.
The winner will be awarded 1000 US Dollars, the first runner up will be awarded 750 US Dollars and the second runner up will be awarded 500 US Dollars. Most Creative works will be published in the cartoon album.
